Can Someone Please Slap Me ~ Pole Dancing for 5 year olds

August 9, 2010

I don’t use this term at all but right now I have to say a huge WT……you know what I mean! Pole Dancing for kids as young as 5 years old {private lessons that is}. Yes, you heard it here, according to the Ottawa Citizen {Pole Dancing for Tweens Raises Concerns} one Dancing Studio in Canada is offering Pole Dancing lessons to children as young as 7 years old and if you want to go younger, private lessons are offered to girls as young as 5 years.

Get this, there is even talk of introducing a mommy-and-me class……. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE WAKE UP! One mother boasts that her 7 year olds little abs are ‘rockin’.

Of course they say it’s not sexual in nature and I believe that, but I beg to question where pole dancing leads to isn’t it closely related to a sexual history.

I can’t even continue writing because I find this SO RIDICULOUS. What happened to things like {huge example} my 5 year old learning to ride a bike this summer. Her little abs have had a work out ….. TRUST ME. Or, a jump on a trampoline, playing on a bloomin jungle gym. COME ON, someone throw me a brain.

I’m outta here, this is seriously MESSED UP and I am one mum who WILL NOT BE ENROLLING ANY OF MY CHILDREN IN POLE DANCING LESSONS. I sign off with the tune of the hokey pokey in mind……

Over 80 years ago, H. L. Mencken said that no-one ever lost money by under-estimating the taste of the general public. Obviously, this is still true today.

putting aside the obvious facts that the teacher is a former exotic dancer and the name of the studio…you can’t tell me that kids can’t get “rockin” abs some other less controversial way…which leads me to believe that if people will pay for it…other people will let them. Regardless of what the innocent kids think, the stupid moms have to realize that at some point their 7 yr. old will break out into a pole dance at a wedding or other function and not realize what they are doing. The parents are supposed to be the filters here.

Thank you Juli……. I can just see it, the wedding is in full swing, the Chicken Dance is just finished and her comes cousin so-and-so who’s had a ‘few to many’ and she’s ready for a swing….or two! No thank you. Bring on the filters…. PLEASE.

Terrific work! This is the type of information that should be shared around the web. Shame on the search engines for not positioning this post higher!
